SEWING INSTRUCTIONS FOR MONKEY

1. Prepare fabric for Legs – Cut a 9 × 5½in (23 × 14cm) piece of Fabric A and a 9 × 2¾in (23 × 7cm) piece of Fabric C. Lay Fabric C over Fabric A with right sides together and sew along the long side. Press seam open. Fold with right sides together so the shorter sides meet and press well.

2. Transfer patterns and markings for all pieces as follows. Take note of which fabric you’ll be using for each piece and take care to transfer the correct lines as indicated: either the stitch line (without seam allowance) or the cutting line (with seam allowance included). When transferring stitch lines, be sure to leave ample space around the pattern pieces for the seam allowance.

On an 18 × 6in (46 × 15cm) piece of Fabric A which has been folded in half with right sides together so that you will have mirrored pieces, transfer Upper Body pattern on the cutting line. Once cut, transfer Tummy placement markings to the right side of fabric on Front piece and markings for opening on the wrong side of Back piece.

On the same piece of folded Fabric A, transfer Arm and Ear patterns twice each on stitch line. For Arms, transfer markings for openings to wrong side of fabric. Ears remain open at the bottom for turning.

On a 6½ × 6in (16.5 × 15cm) piece of Fabric A, transfer Head pattern on cutting line. This piece is Head Front (face). Transfer the face detail markings and appliqué and Ear placement markings to right side of fabric.

On a 6 × 5in (15 × 13cm) piece of Fabric B which has been folded in half with right sides together so that you will have mirrored pieces, transfer Tail pattern on stitch line. Transfer markings for opening. Note that the top also remains open.

On a 6¼ × 8in (16 × 20.5cm) piece of Fabric B, transfer the Head pattern on the cutting line. This piece is the Head Back. Transfer the Forehead pattern on the cutting line.

On a 10½ × 3¼in (26.5 × 8.5cm) piece of Fabric C which has been folded in half with right sides together so that you will have mirrored pieces, transfer Lower Body pattern on cutting line. Transfer slit placement markings to wrong side of fabric.

On the 2½ × 3in (6.5 × 7.5cm) piece of Fabric D, transfer Tummy pattern on cutting line.

On the Fabric A/C which has been folded in half with right sides together so that you will have mirrored pieces, position the Leg pattern carefully so that the seam matches up with the markings. Transfer Leg pattern twice on stitch line. Transfer markings for openings. The top of the Leg also remains open.

On Felt A and B, transfer all pieces on cutting line.

On the iron-on interfacing (optional), transfer Interfacing pattern on cutting line.
